What are Templates?
Widget Templates are a new feature introduced to Studio to make replicating and reusing existing configurations of widgets to new dashboards more efficient. This may include layouts, widgets, charts, and predefined settings.

How can I create a new Template?
To create a new Template, you have two options:

From an existing dashboard:

  1. Open Studio and navigate to the dashboard you would like to a create a Template from.

  2. Enter Edit Mode by selecting the lock icon in the top right corner of the dashboard
  3. Open the More Options menu by clicking the stacked dots to the left of the lock icon and select “Create template”

  4. You will get the possibility to name the Template and chose whether you want to keep the original dashboard boath as the template and a dashboard.

  5. All elements on the dashboard will be saved as a Template under the same name you chose. All Templates can be accessed from the navigation bar, in the Templates dropdown listed below the available dashboards.

Creating a blank template:

  1. In the navigation menu, click "Add a widget template."
  2. Specify the name of the new widget template and click "Create."

  3. Add the elements you want to your template._

How can I use an existing Template?
To add an existing Template to a Dashboard, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the the Dashboard to which you would like to add a Template, or create a new one
  2. Enter Edit Mode by selecting the lock icon in the top right corner of the dashboard
  3. Select the Capture%20d%E2%80%99e%CC%81cran%202024-01-15%20a%CC%80%2016.42.28 icon from the widget selector menu to view all available Templates. Click the Template you would like to add to the dashboard.

  4. Voilà! The selected Template will be added at the bottom of the the Dashboard.

Can I edit a Template?
Yes, you can customize a template to meet your specific requirements. You can add, remove, or rearrange widgets, adjust settings, and personalize the data to tailor the dashboard to your needs. Editing a template is visible to all users but does not affect instances used in existing dashboards.
Templates can be edited by navigating to the Templates dropdown list.

Editing a Widget Template is similar to editing a dashboard.

  1. After selecting a Template, enter Edit Mode by selecting the lock icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  2. In Edit Mode, you will be able to add new widgets or change the name of the Template*
  3. Save changes and enter Viewer Mode by clicking the lock icon.

Edits made to, or deletion of a Template will not:

  • Affect dashboards to which previous version of the Widget Template has been deployed
  • Affect the original dashboard from which the Widget Template was created

How can I share a dashboard template with other users?
The templates created are visible to all users within the same Studio. You can also share templates by exporting them and then importing them into the desired Studio.
