What are the benefits migrating from IoT1/IoT2 to IoT Server?
- Benefits from all Braincube Apps ecosystem like Dashboard, Live, Alerts, Studio on edge
- Improved data reliability / connectivity using last DataFlow Manager connectors
- Increase security level having most recent software / services
- Ease day to day IoT administration (ex no more manual licence updation) and supervision
- Being supported by Braincube avoiding running end of life IoT1&2
What are the risks proceeding this migration?
Known risks are :
- Data loss during IoT servers shift (usually taking few minutes)
- Data consistency issue using new major releases of DataFlowManager connectors
To avoid those risks, the following strategies will be executed :
- Parallel run of the existing IoT1/2 Server and new IoT Server. Duration of the phase should reflect a full cycle of your production process
- Data validation by comparing side by side the existing IoT1/2 database and new IoT Server database after the parallel run
- Having onboarded Braincube IoT Engineer team provided dedicated support during your whole migration process
How long will it take?
We observe an average duration (elapse) of one month. This figure are based on previous migration performed.
Nevertheless, this duration could change depending on the complexity of your context and your availability.
The whole timeline will be adjusted during the kick off meeting.
As an IoT Administrator, how should I involve myself on the migration?
IoT Administrator are autonomous to perform installation of the new IoT Server.
Procedure is available in this article : Installation Process.
New machine will need access to datasources and internet.
We recommend you to list it, eq all the systems / machines from where you retrieve data that are pushed to Braincube.
After installation, it will be needed to setup network routes, communication protocol, authentication and IoT Server remote access.
This enable Braincube support to continue migration process (cf migration process above).
Who to contact at Braincube to get more information about the migration of my IoT servers?
If you have already started a migration, we advise you to get in touch with your Integration Manager or your IoT Engineer/Connectivity Expert.
If you have not started a migration and need more information about it, we recommend to reach your Account Manager or Customer Success Manager.
When IoT1/IoT2 server will be end of life?
End of support of BrainXT, IoT1 & IoT2 products will be effective the 30th of September 2024.
Is IoT Server able to extract data from OPC DA/HDA servers?
Yes, IoT Server is compatible with OPC DA/HDA and is documented in this article.
Does the new system have a place for Proxy configuration?
Yes, it is be possible to setup network like proxy and network time server in IoT Configuration app.
Starting IoT Server 4.1 release, this app is available in the boarding process, permitting network setup during the installation.
Who guarantees the security management of the application?
Like every Braincube product it follow the Braincube Global Security Policy.
This policy is available in the download tab on the left.
What about IoT server security updates (security patches)?
Unlike IoT1 & IoT2 servers, IoT Servers are updated automatically.
That's imply that security fix are deployed on IoT Servers as soon as vulnerabilities are discovered.
What about the management IoT Server. Who do have the admin rights?
There is two levels of rights :
- administrators are able to setup the server and install applications on it
- users that are able to use applications install on it
