Variable definition
3 different names for a variable:
- STANDARD : international name
- TAG : comes from your extraction files
- LOCAL : name usually used in your plant
DESCRIPTION
Optional short description about the variable
Ex : Formula for a calculated variable
UNITS
Ex: m/s, mandatory for calculations and very useful to merge axes by unit
DATA_TYPE
TRACEABILITY
Variables which identify the product, it is unique
Ex : Jumbo ID, lot number, Barcode… To be able to identify the product
CATEGORY
Variables with a limited number of possible values
Ex : Shift, type of product, grammage… to be able to tick the values
DATETIME
At least we need one DATETIME per Base.
Ex : 20111002_203650 , 02/10/2011 20:36:50 , …
NUMERICAL
Is it relevant to compute an average on this tag ?
Ex : Temperature, valve position (0 – 1)… to be able to filter by a range
CONTROL_TYPE
SETTING
What you set or you can control
Ex: You set the speed of the machine to 1500m/min

OBJECTIVE
What you want to achieve
Ex: You want to produce 600 products/h

INDICATOR
What you measure but cannot control
Ex: You can only measure the outside temperature

What else ?
TYPE / SUB_TYPE :
We usually put the Data source in TYPE : this is where the tags are coming from
We usually put the Lag Group in SUB_TYPE
FAMILY / SUB_FAMILY :
Optional: we usually put the nature of the tag
Ex: motor, electrical… it’s a way to make an analysis for a family or an actuator
