WHAT IS THE COEFFICIENT OF VARIATION ?

The coefficient of variation will compare the relative standard deviations, it is a measure of relative dispersion. It is defined as the absolute value of the coefficient of variation and is expressed as a percentage.

  • Advantages
This number is without units and allows two sets of data from different units to be compared.
  • Disadvantages
When the mean is close to zero, the coefficient of variation will tend towards infinity and will therefore be very sensitive to slight variations in the mean.
